How much does Grey Expedite Logistics charge for dispatch?

We charge a flat percentage of the linehaul on loads we book for you — no setup fee, no monthly minimum, and nothing charged on loads you find yourself. Percentages vary by equipment type and are quoted before you sign anything. If we do not book it, you do not pay on it.

Is there a contract or a cancellation fee?

Our dispatch agreement runs week to week with a 30-day written cancellation notice, and there is no termination fee. We would rather earn the next week than trap you in the last one. Any load already booked at the time of cancellation is completed and billed normally.

Question 3

What documents do I need to get started?

Accepted Answer

Four things: your MC authority letter from the FMCSA, a certificate of insurance showing auto liability and cargo coverage at the limits brokers require (typically $1M auto / $100K cargo), a completed W-9, and a signed dispatch service agreement. If you already factor your invoices, we also need your Notice of Assignment.

How long before I am hauling my first load?

Most carriers are rolling within 24 to 72 hours of sending a complete document packet. The variable is broker setup — some carrier packets approve same-day, others take a couple of business days. We start submitting the moment your paperwork lands.

Question 5

Do you work with brand-new MC authorities?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New authorities under six months are harder to place because many brokers have minimum-age requirements, and we will be straight with you about that. We focus your first months on brokers and 3PLs that do not gate on authority age, then expand your book as you build history.

Question 6

Is this forced dispatch? Can I turn a load down?

Accepted Answer

Never forced. Every load is presented to you with the rate, the lane, the pickup and delivery windows and the broker before anything is booked. You approve it or you pass on it. A dispatcher who books over your head is not dispatching — they are gambling with your truck.

Question 7

Do I have to use your loadboards or can I keep my own?

Accepted Answer

Keep your own. We integrate with DAT, Truckstop.com, 123Loadboard and direct broker portals, but nothing stops you from booking your own freight. We do not charge on loads we did not source.

Question 8

What regions and lanes do you cover?

Accepted Answer

All 48 contiguous states. Most of our volume runs the Midwest–Southeast triangle, the I-35 corridor out of Texas, and West Coast produce lanes in season. Tell us the region you want to live in and we will build your board around it.

Question 9

Who handles detention, layover and TONU claims?

Accepted Answer

We do, on your behalf. Send us your in and out times and any signed documentation from the facility, and your dispatcher pursues the accessorial with the broker. Recovery is never guaranteed — it depends on what the rate confirmation allows and what you can document — but we chase it rather than writing it off.

How and when do I get paid?

We invoice the broker the same day we receive your signed BOL. Payment timing is then set by the broker terms on the rate confirmation, usually net 15 to net 30. If you factor, we submit the invoice package to your factoring company instead and funding typically lands the next business day.

Do I need a factoring company to work with you?

Accepted Answer

No, factoring is entirely optional. Plenty of our carriers run on direct broker terms. If cash flow is tight, we can introduce you to vetted factoring partners and help you read the rate, reserve and recourse terms honestly before you commit.

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

We are a dispatch service, not a freight broker — we work as your agent, under your own operating authority, and we never take possession of your freight or re-broker a load. Ask us during onboarding and we will send you our current credentials and coverage documents.
